I feel like against Mexico, we need to pack the midfield, hence going back to the 4-2-3-1 that we ran a lot last cycle.

The only "outside the box" thing here is Danny Williams at the 8 and that's only because I think he is the closest thing we have to the Jermaine Jones "destroyer" role. Now, if Jones is somehow fully fit in a month, put him in over Williams.

Other than that, it's the usual suspects. I don't think any of the new faces in this camp really showed anything to challenge the first team, however Gooch looked good in a limited role, and I think he should get a spot in the 23.

Not as high on Green's play... I do respect that he was really the only player that wanted to actually take players on in this camp, but it was the same thing every time, dribble down the left, step over, step over, cut in, shoot, rinse, repeat. That'll work against Cuba and New Zealand, not sure about it's effectiveness against Mexico & CR.

As for Kljestan, he was very hit or miss tonight, partly due to the bad distribution from the back and Kitchen/Bradley. But when SK did "hit", it was a thing of beauty. He's a true #10 in this reinvented form and he makes us better. He better start, Jurgy.

this is completely off topic but i've been thinking about it a good bit lately. with how good Pulisic is on the ball, does he eventually move inside? I feel like in 5 years or so all of his natural strengths(at least in terms of what's beneficial for the national team) point to him being a 10

if this has been discussed ad nauseam forgive me. I don't keep up as well as i should

He's been solid and I think he deserves to at least make the team with his recent impact. Not sure how you can say you aren't as high on him currently. If I had to guess you're likely just not high on him in general as a prospect of any sort.

This is the best stretch over a few months he's played, probably ever.

outside of Jr. featuring, i really dont feel like we can afford to leave bobby wood on the bench. hes one of the most aggressive players we have, and no doubt hes used to dropping back and defending with hamburg.

I wish i had more confidence in Williams because we certainly could use a little pace and strength in midfield, but i dont think he brings enough to justify leaving Wood off.

----------Woods----Boyd
Pulisic--------------------Johnson
---------Bradley---Kljestan
Ream-----------------------Yedlin
---------Brooks-----Besler
-------------- Guzan

ETA: If Jones is healthy he starts over Kljestan

Bobby Wood has to start IMO. I don't know if you shift to a 442 or play him wide in a 433, but he has to start for me.

Isn't that what Ronaldo does? While watching him play I see him do the step over numerous times.
