Used to horde this stuff in the field.

Also the veggie omelet was a real dick punch after a long day...

I think they put peanut butter in MREs just to piss soldiers and Marines off.

I bet the number of dead terrorists is directly correlated to the number of peanut butter packets in the MREs

I don't mind the ones with peanut butter in em as long as they have a jelly/jam to go along with them. Open both at the same time, squeez some peanut butter in your mouth once, then jelly, then swallow. Repeat. Not great, but not terrible either. I need the protein when I'm in the field.

Jalapeño cheese spread is the shite! Just don't ever take it home and microwave it. It's kind of horrifying what it turns into.

Chili mac and beef stew are still the best. I hate most of the newer "gourmet" MRE's.

Gourmet MRE's? Not possible...I have eaten many MRE's and no way you'll ever have a "gourmet" MRE that has a shelf life consistent of what we currently have.

And yes Jalapeno Cheese spread is the best thing in an MRE...aside from Chili Mac

Cheese tortellini was the best of the vegetarian choices. Chili mac was good too with the little bottles of tabasco.

Ham slice was easily the worst for me. Without fail, my ham slice always had the congealed crap all over it. The pound cakes were the quickest way to empty a canteen full of water too.

I've been out for almost 20 yrs, we didn't have some of the ones that you all have mentioned but give me spaghetti and meat sauce all day...with the maple cake, good stuff.

What is the shelf life on a MRE? I have a case left over from Hurricane Gustav.

I think people were using the Tabasco glass bottles in claymores they were making which is against the Geneva convention

Wut?

Pretty sure a claymore would turn a Tabasco bottle to dust.
