The live game experience has deteriorated (too long, too many commercial/replay interruptions, etc) compared to competing entertainment options (tailgates, other games to watch, etc). And our collective attention spans aren't what they used to be, whether it's football, movies, conversations, whatever.

There's no solution to people whining about decreasing attendance/leaving early. Accept it.

Change from tickets to a card system. Swipe the card to get in and out of the games. You lose priority on season tickets if you leave early from multiple games.
So more or less force people to stay? Maybe those cards should also be swiped when you buy concessions. If you don't buy enough, you lose priority. No, not a good idea IMO.

You're right. I can't even convince my friends to stay the whole game, so I'm sure not going to convince strangers on Tigerdroppings.

I sat next to a couple of over dressed goofballs who were too worried about their Pelicans season tix to care what happened on the field. They left before halftime and never came back. I assume they left to stroke each other.

It's the time we live in
It's a combination of the following:
Younger people attending games growing up in technology culture and addicted to social media. Short attention spans
People are drunk and the buzz wears off around 3rd quarter and they want more
Every game is televised now, including every other team in America. People are going home early to watch other stuff
Home entertainment has gotten better. See above plus people have nice TVs and media rooms and would rather go home and drink at home or not go at all.

The most obvious solution to traffic the one that no one wants to hear about.
If you don't have a ticket to the game you don't belong on campus taking up parking spaces and adding to the traffic.

I stayed to the end last night, 50% of crowd was gone, when finally got to my car, still took another 45 minutes to get to I-10. Parked near Lod Cook. SOmething has to be done about getting people out of the game in a timely manner. Got back to Shreveport near 4 am, not good.

For what it's worth, the experience outside of the game for me is a turn off because of how many commercials are offered over the PA. Instead of maximizing profit out of the fans, work on the fan experience and incenting fans to stay and they will. Have your civil engineering department study the post-game traffic flows and recommend improvements. Install a real-time traffic command to help people get out faster. Sell leftover hot dogs for $1 in Q4. Do giveaways on the way out instead of the way in. Make fans feel appreciated instead of taken for granted and they'll stay.

The traffic complaint is so weird to me. Have any of you ever been to any big sporting event other than at tiger stadium? There is traffic after every sporting event everywhere.
The one time I agree with BeeFense5.
Traffic is generally bad at major sporting events all over the country because you have 80K-100K people spilling out of one area and going multiple directions.
In the games that I have been to at in Tiger Stadium, I did not find traffic to be worse there than anywhere else. I just sat in the car, waited, and listened to the postgame show.
Leaving a game early is incomprehensible to me.

I went to a Spurs playoff game this past season. Everyone stayed until the end since it came down to the wire. The pedestrian traffic getting out of the arena kind of sucked but once we went out the gate, we walked straight to our car and had 0 problems getting back on the highway. I couldn't believe how little traffic there was.

I would not have left that game last night. However, I don't know if I could say that if the game was still in doubt and LSU had every opportunity throughout the game to put away their opponent.

Then you drive slow. I was in traffic near that area and got on 1-10 we'll before 11pm.
Let's say lsu improves traffic by 50%. That cuts 20+ minutes off your drive and you still get home "near 4am".

People want two things from LSU games:
1. A blowout or dominating win, to satisfy their beliefs that LSU is awesome
2. An exciting game, to satisfy their need for entertainment.
Quite often these two things don't happen at the same time. Usually it's a big win like last night against a mediocre team, or a tight exciting game. Every now and then we get a 2007 Va Tech type game but it's rare.
All this to say - people are going to leave whenever they feel like it. If it's a good game and we are fighting for the win people stay.

False, all you need to do is:
-Sell Alcohol.
-Have a good Wifi system covering the stadium.
-Remove 1/2 the seats given to the Greeks.
-have kiosks for students to swipe their ID when the enter and leave and base priority for next years tickets on their time of stay.
-Replace all seating in the lower bowl with nice chair back seating (no bleachers except student section).
-that would lower capacity which is also needed. (102K is too big for LSU, having 90K with quality seating will drive up ticket value for Ath Dept and ensure attendance % increases.

To act like it is unique to lsu does not make sense
I agree completely with you...it is a ridiculous excuse. Hey, if it is a serious blow out one way or the other in a nonconference game, I get it, but not with SEC matchups.
