I remember that people were a little iffy about Saban because of his record at the time and because we stomped his MSU team.
I also remember going into the 2003 season he was considered a good coach, but not some sort of elite coach. I remember some sports media guy saying of Saban that he gets more credit for essentially doing nothing than any other coach in college football.He averaged 4 losses a year before the year he won the NC @ LSU. He ended up averaging 3.2 losses a year while he was here. Miles by the way, actually did better, 3.1 losses a year
