I'm trying to find some areas around Baton Rouge to squirrel hunt. I live off of River Road between LSU and L'auberge. Can you hunt on the river side of the levee?

If you have permission from the landowner you can. Land on the river side of the levee isn't public.

Chase down information on a couple of land owners and start knocking on doors. We have been doing this for years in the marsh and very rarely are we denied permission. Just make sure you approach them with a well thought out proposal. Be respectful, don't drive on the levee, call before you plan to go so they know you're there, and most important drop off a few squirrels or at least make the offer.

Plenty squirrels and pigs in Sherburne. Its a public WMA, there are no such things as people's spots. If you run into someone deer hunting, say excuse me and move off in a different direction.

As far as behind the levee, I see that ending with a confrontation with some LEO's
