Saban left Michigan State by mutual consent. He had burned too many bridges with the big money boosters & the university president and openly expressed his dislike with that aspect of being a HC in college. According to critics in Michigan State, he has one life, football; i.e. zero person skills & to be a HC in college you have to schmooze with alumni, fans, boosters. He hated that part of it according to articles written right after he left.

Yeah, I was going to post a Saban analogy and tack on the Dolphins chapter. Saban was really disliked by many of the people he worked with in Baton Rouge and Miami but he had the essential elements of success: a football mind, a football obsession, and a desire to succeed. Do people not remember the call in radio shows where he would be openly disdainful of fans calling in and deride their stupidity? His inability to BS with some of the major donors used to being sucked up to?

If Kelly were to decide he wanted to be a college guy where he could have higher levels of authority and player control LSU (or any other major program in need of a coach) would be really foolish to overlook him.
