I keep reading how drug laws unfairly target blacks. And how drug laws break up black families. I don't agree with the war on drugs and it's been a waste but don't the laws apply to all of us? It's just some people break them more frequently. I just don't think it's fair to blame the laws for breaking up families. Saw comments earlier saying Asians do better than Blacks because Asians aren't targeted by drug laws.

Police also say they recovered Scott's gun at the scene and it contained his blood, DNA and fingerprints on it

Well, really, whites and blacks carry drugs at about the same rate. It's the violent crime that is disproportionate, which leads to higher police presence in black communities, which in turn leads to more police interactions among non-violent drug offenders, which in turn leads to a disproportionate arrest rate among blacks in terms of drug offenses.

So it all leads back to ground zero. Black communities have to change in order for their circumstances to change. More police interactions lead to more opportunities for things to go south.
