No break.... Paul doesn't know how to develop a 3rd starter or when to take pitchers out or leave them in.... but really I think this baseball season has a chance to be really fun

LSU fans who follow baseball. This is an LSU board for such things, correct?

Sure, if your life means absolutely nothing. It's white man's last bastion.

If Deichmann is moving to the OF, I could see a competition at 1b consisting of both Jordans, Slaughter (if he's not in the running at 3b), Nick Coomes, Bryce Adams (had a really good summer), and Brody Wofford.
3b would come down to Reid, Slaughter, Smith, Templet.
Duplantis would have to be CF IMO. The other OF spots would be Diechmann locked in at one of them and then Watson, Breaux, Beau Jordan, and Wofford.
DH would probably be a rotating spot to get guys like Romero, Coomes, the Jordans, and a few of the freshmen consistent ABs.
There is so much talent on this team. Depending on the lineup though, we could be really strong up the middle and look like a slow pitch softball team on the corners. Coomes can stroke, but he made a lot of errors at third for LSUE. That's why I see him at 1B or DH. Deichmann and Jordan in the same OF wouldn't be my favorite lineup either.

Your don't care meter is fricked if you're in this thread bitching, yet you don't care. How about you just ignore the thread if you don't care. There are plenty of other threads on the rant you can take your sour attitude to and bitch in.

We said after the failure in 2015 that 2017 would be the next real chance based on all the talent brought in the 2015 class. Add in the players that stuck around: Freeman, Kramer, Poche, and this team will have really high expectations.
Meaning I'm going to have low expectations.

My expectations are based on having as many seniors as we do. The 2015 class was pretty ridiculous on paper, but only a fraction of those guys are still here.
But my expectations are pretty high right now. I like a lot of the returning pieces, a lot of the new pieces, and for once I like the schedule quite a bit.

The Houston trip will be a good early test.

I'm that guy. I'll be doing my diligent duty again this fall, as long as I get the schedule. Thanks for posting next weeks.
As far as the lineup, I liked the one we finished with last year. All we really need is another outfielder to take Fraley's spot. I'm looking forward to seeing the competition this fall and spring to find out if any of the newcomers can beat out a returning starter. It seems that it will have to be an infielder since no outfielders are in this year's class. Perhaps, if one of the freshmen consistently performs at the plate, he can be used in the outfield. My preference is for Brennan Breaux to improve his BA and start in RF. I'm sure that we won't all agree on whatever moves Paul ultimately makes but that gives us more to talk about on this board.

quote:This is basically what I said. 2015 was loaded that summer... but no mac, godfrey, latz, byrd anymore. There are others, too. And again with the guys coming back we are going to be very "old".

quote:Deichmann. He has an arm. As long as he can catch better as an OF than as a 1B, he'll be fine. Duplantis in center will suck because he's another noodle arm. Jordan/Breaux will be fighting over LF.
All we really need is another outfielder to take Fraley's spot.

Zach Watson (Ruston) is a freshman outfielder. Also, don't forget about Wofford. His bat should be better in Year 2. I think Jake Slaughter could be moved to the outfield also. One of the signees (can't remember which one) is supposedly the fastest guy on the team.

Hope we have a new 3rd base coach this year!
