OP just needs to find a way to back in the golfcart into the truck, that way wouldn't a majority of weight be in bed?

or just spend the extra $25 on another day's rental and then not worry about killing someone on the hwy should you lose the cart.

I think the weight is pretty evenly distributed in most carts -- for sure if it's electric. My shooting/hunting carts have always been electric, and the batteries are under the front seat.

I think the gasoline engines are pretty much under the front seat on most makes, as well.
