I've never understood why David Ortiz doesn't get the same treatment as other players that have been "linked" to steroids. Here he is in his final year, having the best year of his career? Doesn't add up

Let's go through what happens to steroid users. Their bodies break down with injuries later in their career. They under go a massive change in body size. Their numbers fall off a cliff after they stop using. They are embroiled in massive controversy.
None of these apply to Ortiz. It's my impression that his 2003 test was a positive for amphetamines. Easy to get off of. No bad side effects that would derail a career. If y'all want to cry about him cheating for using a drug like that, go ahead. Other high profile players of the past have used it. Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays to name two. Someone explain to me how Ortiz can play for 11 years under the strictest drug testing policy in professional sports and not have any failed test. He has consistently put up great offensive numbers because he doesn't play the field and is a great hitter. Period. End of story. See everyone in Cooperstown.

He's a lovable personality and has been rigorously tested the past 10+ years and never tested positive again, yet maintained fantastic stats.
He's going to be an interesting HoF case. Normally I'd say DHs should never get in, but that being said, it's also hard to say there's been a more famous player during his 15 year career ya know?
