Retract is the way to go, or if you're willing spend a little more, powertrax is what I have on my 2012 FX4 and I love it. Zero leaks and can open and close the gate without opening the cover. Retract has a lock, powertrax doesn't need one, only moved by the motor. Both are infinitely adjustable along the track.

my only issue with the rectacable covers is losing those inches of an already pretty small bed.
