He's had 10 seasons where he's been .500 or 1 game under .500.

He's had 6 seasons where he's gone 10-6 or better.

And he's had 4 seasons where his teams were poor with a record of 6-10 or worse.



That's really not bad considering the teams he's had. To have only had 4 poor seasons in 20 years of coaching without having a dynasty like the Patriots or something...

so he spends half the time around 500, then the other half he goes way over or way under.

It's all in how you word it.


That's 14 of 20 seasons without a winning record. Put that way, that's not good.

Or you could put it in more reasonable terms. He's had 5 seasons at 8-8, 6 winning seasons, and 9 losing seasons.

Now, you can commend him for having more 10+ win seasons than he has 10+ loss seasons, but in 20 seasons he's 14th in total wins, and 141st in winning percentage.
