The Green Light Plan is a comprehensive transportation program to improve roadway infrastructure and citizen safety throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. On October 15, 2005 the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish voted and passed an extension to the current one-half of one percent (1/2%) sales and use tax for local street and roadway improvements. 70% of the proceeds will be used for transportation improvements including the construction of new roads, widening of existing roads, intersection improvements and upgrades to traffic signalization and synchronization. So again, why do we need more taxes if we have a tax in place to pay off these bonds and build all the projects as advertised?

Is the 1/2 cent tax going away? I don't believe it is. Don't they want to use it for more?
