The whole "oppressed" angle just boggles my mind in 2016. Yes, black people were once very oppressed. Not that long ago, either.

But today? Nah. I had neighbors in Greece who were refugees from Albania. Nicest folks in the world, and they were positively shite on every single day by Greeks. They looked my family, as black Americans, as insanely lucky, and would have traded places in a heartbeat.

There is no way in hell I'm going to cavalierly throw around the phrase "oppressed," and pretend that I'm a victim.

Agreed.

And I'm not saying there isn't any discrimination anymore. There will always be prejudiced people... it's just a fact of life. Everybody probably has a story of something that happened once in their lives.

But to act like it's the 1940's is also wrong.
