Eh, I don't know about that. The herbaceous and shrub undergrowth are far more significant in terms of fuel load. Trees aren't typically a major factor in fire management, other than to supress fire. For example, your fire danger is much higher in a pine savannah ecosystem than a mixed hardwood forest because of greater understory composition.

In fact, selective logging without proper understory management could INCREASE the fuel load by allowing more sunlight to the understory and less competition for resources.

Some of the timber companies in Louisiana have actually begun allowing LDWF to burn on the properties they lease out for WMAs. I'm not sure of the exact reasoning, but I would suspect that the reduced work at harvest and fire suppression have something to do with it.

True dat...If you dont burn today you will burn up tomorrow... everyone knows this but wacklibs in CA...NWF believes in CC because it a vehicle to raise money. PLus all those groups live in an alternate reality/through the looking glass gibberish is science...
