Payton has an uncanny ability to sign kickers who miss kicks indoors. I'm sorry but a 50-yard FG indoors is a gimme for 90 percent of the kickers in the NFL these days.

Yep. For some reason this board is really impressed with him. They also told me Hocker would end up being good too, so..,

To be fair, Forbath would have missed that 50 yarder as well and the last play would have been a hail mary. I for one am happy to finally have a kicker with a strong leg.

There has to be a kicker out there who is automatic from 50 indoors. Our opponents always have one.
Id have probably preferred a Hail Mary

I'm starting to believe the curse is back. Every move Payton is making is wrong. They go with Breaux and a bunch of bums at CB--Breaux gets hurt. They take a chance on a young kicker--he has to kick a 61 yarder to win the game.

I swear. He could cut McCown tomorrow, go with one QB on the roster for week 2, and I PROMISE YOU, Brees would have a concussion on the 2nd play of the ball game after never having to be taken out of a ball game for 11 years.

Connor Barth is 16-25 career from 50 with a long of 57.

If only we could sign a guy like him.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I can't remember one. So it brings up an interesting point.

Can somebody name the last time a kicker shat the bed and lost the game against the Saints because of a missed FG? I can remember 2 in 2009: Suisham in the Redskins game and MAYBE Stover in the Super Bowl. I don't know if you can blame that one on Stover. He was 50 and it was out of his range.

Gould is

88 of 88 from 29 yds and closer
86 of 101 from 39 to 30
75 of 103 from 49 to 40
23 of 31 from 50+

And spent his career at windy arse Soldier Field.

You think he could do a little better in the Dome? I do.

With the $ Brees makes we have to try to make do with too many sub-par players. This includes Kickers. Our Punter is another high paid player

The 20 yarder he made is more concerning than the 50 and 60 yarder.

Agreed 100%. I'd argue the missed 62 yarder was more positive than that stupid 20 yarder he "made."

You don't get it clown. Truth is reality.
I love Brees as much as anyone but I stand by my statement.

Yep - he appeared to have the leg but just wide. It's actually somewhat encouraging that he has the leg.

He kicked three 64 yarders in warm ups. First was short by a couple yards, second hit the crossbar(but down the middle), and he hit the third.

Wood you guys please stop hating! Kicking is not an easy job, when you make it no one cares and when you miss it, you get doo dooed on. Their were a lot of things that went wrong in that game, it's not the kickers fault
