Eh, that extra power makes it much easier and takes stress off of the tranny. I'd rather be spinning 1250 in overdrive than 3500 in 3rd

I think OP needs to mildly decide upon what tow range his camper will be in. No point in buying a truck that can tow 12k lbs if you buy a camper weight 7500.

Higher RPM is easier on everything. It's less torque, and torque is what wears shite out and breaks things. Running loaded around peak engine torque is very hard on the driveline and engine.

You'll also burn less fuel at higher RPM in many loaded situations.
