Well to be fair, we don't run the triple option so you're comparing apples to oranges.

Might you be missing the point? They are basically dead last of "normal" offenses in all of NCAA football. Imagine how amazing our backs are/have been & then imagine how much better they would be if there was some semblance of a passing threat to keep the D honest

Not defending the stat but how are they dead last when there are 128 teams? You listed like 5 option teams. Not 34.

What is their average ranking?

My only point is that triple option teams rely on deception and catch defenses by surprise with the pass. Naturally, their passing yards rival ours because of those sneaky option drop backs that catch the safety's cheating up to defend the pitch guy. We have to get our passing yards in a more traditional way which is very difficult especially with the flood.

That is true, but my point is this has been a top 10 to 15 program over that period. so overall not a lot of room to move up. LSU has a wider gap between run and pass effectiveness than most but it is difficult to be say top 25 to 30 in both and be more consistent.

It would e great to get the passing game to 2005-2007 levels. It has been a factor in keeping them from top 4 to 5 rankings along with NFL attrition, the issues with Perriloux and Tyrann Mathieu, and obvvious good fortune smiling on Alabama .
