Miles never said he was drastically changing the offense. In fact he mocked that idea after the A&M game last year.

“I want you to know something. It’s a real interesting thing – ‘the serious overhaul of the offense,” Miles said, mocking a question about drastically changing his offense

This is a senile captain on a ship. The ship is sinking and everyone last year wanted to keep the captain because he was nice.

When Miles' arse was on the line late last year, he had assured Joe Alleva that the offense would be brought up to date. Between the A&M game and the bowl game, he started crawfishing.

However, he had also been putting out how things were "smokin'" during fall practice. Those kids went out on the field yesterday knowing goddamned well that they weren't adequately prepared and were essentially out their fending for themselves. I felt for them, but not the coaching staff.

Exactly!! Not sure where everyone is getting this "Miles assured he would make changes to the offense" talk from. It was assumed that he would given the situation toward last year and that he may have given assurances he would or given an ultimatum to change if he stayed. Don't recall him ever saying we would change the offense.
