The officer was fired and
Oh my, such injustice

the three dozen student protestors, meanwhile, were collectively awarded US$1 million by UC Davis in a settlement from a federal lawsuit, with each pepper-sprayed student receiving $30,000 individually.
Oh my, such injustice

Well it was an injustice to begin with. Justice served

Stewards of the law should be held to the highest standard.

Why wasn't he brought on criminal charges? He assaulted a group of people unjustifiably. Can citizens pepper spray cops (or anyone for that matter) unjustifiably and completely escape all criminal liability? Why not?

I'll say it again we should go back to ways of the old west. Everyone can carry a gun if they choose and take care of matters themselves.

I really wish Facebook would go back to requiring an .edu email for people to sign up. Old people find to way to ruin everything.

Uhhh there have been plenty of people on this board, the MSB, facebook, etc. saying the NFL should fine him if he refuses to stand
The NFL has the right to fine him for his actions. While he has 1st amendment right to free speech, he is protected from prosecution from the government not from the NFL. He represents them and the 49ers while he is in uniform.
Just like police officers. They can be disciplined for what they say while they are on duty because of who they represent.

they arent supposed to but Im sure it happens....or they get charged and charges get dropped.
Charges get dropped or arent brought up against criminals everyday.....just look in Orleans Parish how many thugs dont get indicted and charges get dropped and the judges put these criminals back on the streets to kill more of their own people.
Why isnt anyone protesting against that?

I'm aware. I was responding to a post claiming that people who are offended by CK's actions aren't taking the SJW approach and demanding he be silenced for his actions. However there are a lot of people on this board and elsewhere demanding he be fined if he continues to sit during the anthem.

So you agree that the cop in that instance did not face the level of justice for his actions that most citizens receive? Being fired from his job is hardly in line with what the average citizen guilty of a violent crime receives.
Btw that cop sued the UC Davis for workers comp following his termination and won over 30k.

sure I'll agree with you on that one incident that happened in 2011

In the last year, NYC alone has paid out over 600 million dollars to citizens as a result of police brutality. How many of the officers involved in those incidents were charged with a crime and/or jailed for their actions?

How many?

Except that it's the citizens tax money paying all that. The police officers involved aren't paying a single cent of that money.
I don't have the numbers, but I'm going to go ahead and be confident that a small fraction are ever brought up on criminal charges.
You really can't dispute that breaking the law as a police officer lands you in a LOT less trouble than breaking the same law as a civilian. There's a reason why it's big news when cops actually are charged with a crime.

I wont dispute that at all, but it also works that way for politicians and people of higher social status......lets protest

Ok.
It's just frustrating that so many are offended that someone dare say that LEO's need to be held accountable for their frick ups when the fact is that almost no other group receives less punishment for their bad actions.
Why is it so offensive to believe that law enforcement should answer to a criminal jury when they break the law? Why are they held to a different standard? Why do people defend the fact that they are held to a lesser standard?

The NFL is him employer. Employers have the right to punish employees for not following their guidelines. That is within their right as a private business. If the NFL does not wish to associate itself with individuals who refuse to stand for the National Anthem, that is their right. Thanks to the NFL CBA, the Commissioner of the NFL has a very wide range of discretion for matters such as this, and I often disagree with how they exercise that discretion with dog fighters, serial abusers, and rapists, but they are entitled to have that discretion as a private entity.
I don't really care what they do or what Kap does going forward. I believe that what he did was disrespectful and stupid for his career. However, I support his right to be stupid and harm his career.
Would those defending Kap still be defending him if he chose not to stand for the National Anthem because we have a black president? What if he did so saying that he would never stand for the pledge until Hillary is in prison? I have a good feeling that those supporting him would not be doing so if that were the reason.
The reason shouldn't matter in an instance like that, but we have grown so partisan and stratified as a society that we cannot see anything outside of the lenses of a false political dichotomy which dehumanizes all dissent as the hate-filled ramblings of an evil enemy.

I would bet they do more times than not

Again, there are more good ones out there doing a damn good job than ther are bad ones.
How about this, how about people stop breaking the law? how about people stop resisting arrest? How about do what the police ask you to do and if they TELL you do something then how about you do it?
Why make their jobs harder than what they are? If all you want to do id protest the police, and go against the Blue Line then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
