How can one take offense to perceived slights against the wounded soldiers and vets and blindly ignore the way we and our govt treats some of them upon return. And how we leave them empty handed? That's conveniently turning away from the truth.

How can u laud the valor of our WW2 vets while ignoring the way we treated our minority vets and Japanese Americans? It's hypocrisy at its best.

How can u laud Liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness while ignoring our suppression of the rights of ethnic, religious, racial and Sexual minorities?

These are not "half truths" or made of circumstances -- these are historical and empirical objective facts.

It's not hypocrisy at all because almost none of us alive today participated in those actions.

How is that at issue with the whole Kaepernick thing? The reason people are pissed off about Kaepernick is that they think he is disrespecting the flag and anthem and what they represent. Personally I don't have an issue with it. He is silently and nonviolently protesting. He's brought some attention to the issue of his choice. Now whether you agree that his protest has merit or not, the way he's going about it is about as American as you can get.
