That's terrible. This is why I am such a defensive driver and try to stay away from other vehicles on the road. I do not want to die in a car wreck.

Yep. I keep my distance; never pass a truck until the car ahead of me is completely clear and I try to make sure there's an escape route.
Tailgaters can rot.
