To get away from the End and give QB a chance. In NFL 2.5+ is throwing down.
This somewhat goes to earlier point. You have to run the ball to win, but it seems nobody wants to.

I'm not going to pretend to know more than NFL coaches, but I'd say that the threat of the run keeping the DE's honest is more valuable than the extra .25 seconds to pass.
