Why are LSU Season Tickets printed in Ft. Smith, AR?

I'm sure it's all about pricing, but isn't there a Louisiana printer who could do the season ticket booklets for LSU? Just seems odd that they are done out of state. Mine are supposed to arrive today. I noticed this last year and thought it was strange. Maybe company is an LSU Alum??

Well, to the extent practicable and the services are available here for the same or similar price, there is no reason a state-funded university shouldn't be required to use state proprietors.

Because Fournette was relegated to the South Alabama ticket.
Duh.

Print publishers are expensive in LA. I have several colleagues who all use printers in Arky due to their lower price

Somebody like Alleva or someone else in the LSU brass has a buddy that owns the ARK company

The tickets from almost any college team, pro team, golf tournament, tennis match, or anything of the like are printed in Fort Smith, Arkansas at either Consolidated or WWL. They have the technology, and the ability to accept print files and barcode files from all major ticket software companies. It's hard for other people in the ticket printing business to compete with them when it comes to pricing, quality, and reliability.

Athletic department who pays to get the tickets printed is not state funded. It is a state program in name only.

The company they use is a major ticket printer. A lot of schools and teams use them.
Weldon Williams and Lick I think is who it is.

Yep, they print tickets for all kinds of events. You'd be surprised.

This is one of the most "off season" threads I have ever seen.....

One of the best printers in the country is Democrat Printing and Lithograph in Little Rock.
Best combo of quality and pricing I've found.

They print the Super Bowl tickets every year, if LSU fans are this upset about their season tickets being printed by the best, I'll speak with the owner this weekend and have it out to an end for you. You need them more than they need you.

Nearly all major tickets are printed there. That company's been in the ticket-printing business since the late 19th century.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. Just didn't know why they were printed out of state.

Can we agree that the best day of the year (outside of actual gamedays) is the day you get your season tickets in the mail?
A season full of possibilities is on the horizon, and knowing you will be there for the majority of it, is an erection that is tough to beat.

Saints tickets were printed in Fort Smith at least through last year, too (not sure about this year because I canceled my tickets). Also, the company where I work has used Fort Smith for mailing in the past.
It's probably a lot easier to farm out that stuff, and that company is probably used by many other firms. So they probably easily deal in bulk and are equipped to handle mass production. Not saying a Louisiana company can't do it, but if you have a company already doing this for other clients and they specialize in it, it makes sense.
