Any loopholes where you can cancel service w/o penalty since they have No eta on when any service will return? Still no phone/net/tv ? But still having to pay for service

Wow that's fricked up. All my buddies who were flooded had Cox. They called Cox and are getting their service suspended for a few months. One thinks it may be a year till he is fully back to normal. Cox was very cooperative with all of them.

Call customer service about your outage. AT&T is quite generous in compensating for it. I lost service for ten days after Katrina and they gave me a discount on my monthly bill for an entire year that was the equivalent of two free months.
Just remember that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

That's funny. We were out of service (6 landlines) on a business account for 5 days (no bad weather or flooding, just faulty equipment), and all they offered was a 5 day credit on the bill.

We are in Central/Greenwell springs too And we got no service, just had Cox move my service to where I am staying ...gave me 20$ off my bill for 12months and free installation at our temp residence

This worked for me recently with Cox cable. I was in a contract with them and had to move out of my place. I told them where I was moving to didn't offer cable which was the truth but they didn't push or even try to verify and said no problem. Let me cancel with no fee.
That's really crappy you're still getting billed and they admit the service isn't working. Good luck

You can put the account on hold for now.

I put my U-Verse and Cox service on hold a couple days after I evacuated. U-Verse made me give them a resume date, which I can modify at any time. Cox just let me suspend indefinitely. Just tell them you're in a disaster area. Ultimately, do not pay for service days in which you didn't have service. If they don't have sense enough to discount your bill, call and demand a refund for the past 10 days on top of suspending service.
On a related note, anyone know if I'm going to responsible for the equipment? The backup battery and the 2-wire router were both on the bottom shelf of my desk. Letting them dry out in the sun. The router may end up powering on even if it literally smells like shite. Battery is probably shot. I'm likely going to cancel U-verse anyway and just go with PS Vue when I move back in my house. Wonder if they'll bill me for 5-year-old outdated equipment.

I think customer service with U-verse has more latitude to wheel and deal than the POTS people.

quote:I guess so, because they straight up dealt themselves out of $400/month with us. I even told them exactly what it would take to keep us -- a $0 bill for that month. No fewer than half a dozen reps of different levels of customer service told me that wasn't possible. Until I made a big stink on their public message boards, THEN they ended up sending US a check.

And then we switched to Cox.
