NO!!! Jesus, that's stupidity on stilts! It assumes our coaches are so stupid they can't be trusted to play the right guys.

Shocker, but you read me wrong. I'm not saying that they aren't playing the right guys

HERE'S WHAT I AM SAYING:

IS THERE A BACKUP OR FRESHMAN WHO COULD BLOSSOM WITH MORE REPS NOW WHO WOULD NOT HAVE OTHERWISE????

This is not a knock on Lac or the coaches. I totally believe he was the best option when he got hurt. That's why I said "mid season."

I think your point could be valid... the more reps players get the better they can potentially become and Lac not being on the field, allows for more reps for more players.

However only time will tell if the time is enough for the development to occur.

Plus, the talented freshman have some other guys in front of them that haven't seemed to step up in years.... not sure what they are waiting on, but it just might get them to get their arse in gear.

I want FH, GG, etc to make a move and get ready - they have been pretty invisible since they arrived.

Well, okay, that's what you're saying now. But it wasn't what you originally wrote. Read your thread title.

Sure, Lac's injury will result in more playing time for a freshman. And that freshman will be better for it. But our defense will be worse, because I don't care how much you develop a freshman, he's not going to be as good as Lac. He would have been a four year contributor and a three year starter. He was one of our best linemen and a defensive stalwart.
