Former New Orleans Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis could find employment soon.
The 30-year-old Lewis, whom the Saints released a day before the second preseason game against the Houston Texans, will meet Tuesday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
Lewis, who battled a hip abductor strain during training camp and missed numerous practices, has also drawn interest from at least five other teams, the source said.
The 6-1, 208-pound Lewis, a native New Orleans, originally entered the league in 2009 as a third-round pick of the Steelers.
He signed a free-agent contract with the Saints in 2013.

In other words no one is calling right now, can you guys give me a charity visit?

I nailed this on the board the other day. Not only will he sign with Pitt but he will ball out. Sad

If he can magically get on the field, then screw him. That's why he was let go.

I agree with ya man, I already said in the other thread that is cutting him will come back and bite us in the arse!

His problem was that he was on the field when he should have been healing.
But you have an irrational hatrid of the man.

Don't hate and not irrational. Just a really frustrating situation for a guy who could have done great things here.
I think him being as public about everything just sits wrong with me.

if he was being truthful when said he needed just two more weeks to get back on the field I will never understand why the Saints didn't give him the opportunity. He def earned it as many times as he played hurt. Just think it was a bad move

We'll see. I mean, CSP and our FO have definitely made some head scratching decisions, but if he was truly that close to returning, I would like to think they wouldn't cut ties like that. So either he's not nearly that ready or relationships had soured too much to keep this going.

Sounds like he didn't like Dennis Allen

It would be awfully hilarious if he suited up for the Steelers Friday night in the dome.

Sounds like Dennis Allen didn't like him. That's enough for a coach to run a man out.
I'm not happy with his release, but I understand it. Here is a great player that has been battling injuries and barely seeing the field who has beef with his DC. That's a bad combination.
ETA: Signing with the Steelers was my initial thought at hearing of his release, and it makes the most sense. They are desperate for CB help, they know each other well and he is loyal to what he considers his family. NO and PITT are family to him, both the towns and the teams

You guys really believe the players side of the story? Players tell the truth about their own injuries 0% of the time.
For example, matt berry, ESPN's fantasy football guy says on his podcast all the time if a player comes out and says an injury isn't a big deal and they give a timetable for return, be worried; because it's probably a lot more serious and most of the time the players even lie to themselves bc all they want to know and understand is that they can play. Teams are a bad source for injury info and the player themselves is even worse.
I don't really have an opinion on this whole situation bc I don't know a single fact about it other than how bad he looked at the end of last season bc I saw it with my own eyes. Keenan's story also seems so drastically unbelievable to me; it's obvious there's another side to it all.
Guess what, we will never know what really went down. Maybe a decade from now when a retired player or coach is asked about it possibly in an interview but GL.
I had a feeling he was done with us when all this obscure hip business started last year, if the guy can pick up somewhere else; good for him. If he never plays again, no one will say shite. If he plays for another team and contributes, all the captain hindsight's will come out of the woodwork to bash the FO. Regardless, none of us know enough to even form an educated guess imo.

If we lose another pre season game we can blame it in the Steelers hiring a spy.

Yep. He knows their system and he left on good terms. Playing for the Saints was a lifelong dream.

No, I think he was just stating the obvious! I was another big fan of Keenan Lewis, but if he is hurt, he is of no help to us. This is a business in the business of winning!! That is all!

And he had a problem with Keenan taking care of the business side of it.
