ETA: And just so I have this right? You're claiming that just because every car must get through one point, the capacity of the road makes no difference? As in, you think one line of cars holding up traffic 10 miles back instead of two lines of cars only taking up half the space will move at the same rate?

ETA2: And when do you want people to get in this long arse single file line?

No, it actually moves slower with zipper merging because of caterpillar effect close to the zipper merge point.
