It's probably McCarthy's weakest book though, so I get the criticism when juxtaposed with how great the movie is.
I liked both as well, but it's probably my least favorite McCarthy book. It's one of my favorite movies though, so it's a weird paradox.

McCarthy is a strange cookie. His "border trilogy" clearly defines him as a great writer. His later work is more of hit or miss proposition for me. I still admire his work, though. And the movie (NCFOM) really worked for me.
