I have a barrel assembly I'm not using. It's a cheap phosphate 223 Wylde 16" barrel with rail height gas block handguard cap and nut/delta ring assembly. I figure I have 3 options.

For about $60 I could throw it on a slickside upper and twist on a bird cage and throw on a spare handguard I have laying around and have a whole complete spare upper I would probably never use. $160 if I take it a step further with BCG and charging handle. Could possibly use it with my 22LR dedicated build. I know it might eventually turn into building another lower and having yet another 223 AR laying around. Damned breeding bastards.

I could sell the whole lot for $0.75 on the dollar. Help pay for some Ammo.

Or I could just sit on the parts cause it never hurts to have spares.

So what gets your vote?

That's what I would do. You said yourself you're unlikely to ever use it - I would cash out based on best information now.

The last thing you want to do is keep spending money, turning an asset into a liability.

If you take this route, at least wait for the results in November, there is a chance you could get $1.50 on the dollar then

For lowers and complete rifles, maybe. Not for parts, though, I wouldn't think.

Hope I'm wrong. I have a lot of lowers. I need a lot of parts.

With that thinking I could build a new rifle out of this stuff for another $330ish.

That's a better investment than some of your other options, IMHO - you're going to get more for a complete rifle than parts in almost every circumstance. If you can get some sweat equity, that's better than either selling the parts or accumulating more expensive, large parts.

Sat on most of mine for awhile. If you get to a point where you basically rebuild your whole rifle (new trigger, handguard, optic, SBR it, etc.) you can sling some stuff fairly easy on various equipment exchanges. Haven't had to come out of pocket very much for upgrades doing this.

I find it to be the complete opposite, market is flooded with cheap rifles.

Posted it on ARFcom at $0.70 on the dollar and sold it within a few minutes of posting. Guess I should have priced it higher It's honestly cheap bottom of the barrel parts but helped me build a sub $400 AR when I got the stuff.

I'm not charging you any consulting fees for this thread, either - so you're good.
