Life happens. Don't be a pussy. At most, go to counseling and learn to deal with your problems like an adult. Those pills are a trap that many people have been caught in and had their lives ruined.

You realize people start taking those meds because they suffer from an actual medical condition that greatly affects their quality of life, right? What is more ruin-some: taking a pill every day or losing your life to depression? Hopefully dumb people don't read your posts and construe it as reliable information.

Sorry but I don't consider depression a true mental illness. To me, it's more of an emotional weakness.

Oh, great, you're one of these assholes.

To the OP: Please listen to your doctors. They are the experts on this stuff. Take the medicine as directed for at least 6 weeks and if you aren't experiencing a change for the better, consult your doc again and work with him/her on a new solution.

Research has proven time and time again that meds + counseling (ie, cognitive behavioral therapy) is the best treatment for most forms of depression and anxiety. Don't listen to the whackjobs here who say it's all in your head or you need to man up. Good luck man. Depression is a bitch but you can fight it and win with the right approach.

I've known people who became worse off because of anti depressants, and one who committed suicide as a result.
