I live there, BSL, what kind of swimming are you planning on doing? The water is REALLY shallow. Kids can play in it, but you'd have to walk out 100 yds to get waste deep. Literally 80 feet off of the beach will be calf deep. Great place to ride paddleboards if the wind is down, not likely, but swimming as an adult really isn't going to happen.
It's great spot to sit on the beach and drink beer and it's great for kids. Pick your spot well, drive to the end and back before you settle on one.
Let me know if you need other recommendations in town, drinks or eats...spots to bring the family or whatever.
