Ego and venue hurt these guys too.
Paul McCartney singing at the 2012 Olympics!!! He ended, I believe the opening ceremony, by singing Hey Jude. It was brutal. His voice is old and too small. He in no way can command a stadium, like in the olympics.
A small venue or club or theater he'd have sounded fine. But he sounded like a bird squawking in an avalanche with 60 thousand people.
Add to that Simon standing up there alone. They even bring a second person up there to try to harmonize like Garfunkel??
