Pigmy Rattlesnake

I learned from my mom on Sunday that she picked up a Pigmy Rattlesnake inside her home, specifically inside her bathroom late last week. It turns out that my dad had a large safe delivered and the people who delivered and installed it left the doors open for quite a while.
She assumes the snake came in through the doors and made its way through his office (a very large room) and either crawled under or came through open door from his office into their bathroom. They have marble floors which get very cold with the A/C on and she happened to notice this snake laying motionless on the marble floors. She ended up picking up the snake with a pair of tweezers and set it on her bidet. The snake laid motionless. She returned a few minutes later and placed the snake inside a grocery store bag so that her grandson could see it and identify what kind of snake it was (as he is reading all about snakes).
Long story short, my dad returned to pick up the snake and deliver it to their grandson. The snake was alive. Not fully alert, but alive. And it could have caused some serious damage. My mother, not knowing a venomous snake from a non-venomous snake is very lucky, in my opinion, to not have been bitten. She estimated the snake to be just over 1 foot long.
This was the second time that we know of where a Pigmy Rattlesnake was found on their property by us. The first time, I had one crawl up my foot as I was standing on the corner of our pool. I immediately shook him off and my father got the pool net and caught him. We then poured acid over him and that was that.

Those must be big tweezers.

I think he still could have identified it with the head cut off

Acid, really? No more humane way of killing it if in fact you were planning to kill it?

My mom woulda shot holes in the floor. She has 0 chill when it comes to snakes, and she is a country girl.

I agree with QT.
I am absolutely no fan of venomous snakes but that seems WAY to cruel a way to kill anything... Except maybe an ex- MIL...

We were cleaning the pool and only had a net and acid at our disposal.
It seemed like a logical combination to use at the time. Whether you agree or disagree with how this snake was killed, he's dead now and has been dead for well over 20 years, around the time this encounter occurred.

OK, now at your age, does that not bother you?

I haven't given this any thought until the question came up in this thread.

Are you guys really turning this into the humane society after a snake crawled up his leg.
Let me guess, you never electrocuted mosquitoes and burnt ants with a magnifying glass

Give it a fricking rest! It doesn't bother him, me neither.

Boil that motherfricker to death if you have to. Who gives a shite? It's a venomous snake for goodness sake.
For this to be the outdoor board there sure a lot of queasy vaginas.

Seems that might have been part his fault?
Young boys killed lot's of things, but we grew up. He Uncle sounds like a AH.
Acid seems like a terrible way to die no matter who/what you are.

You seem to think everything will be around for your children as things are now. Well, you're wrong. Continue on the free killing path and they will be crying about how their ancestors screwed them.
No biggie to me, have at it.

Would it make you feel better if I said yes, even though I'd be lying?
Don't go away mad, just go away.

Not that I am a fan of how the snake was disposed of, but this is the most emotional knee jerk pansie arse response to any thing I have seen posted here.
