So, you go to this party and bring alcohol to leave at this person's house so that you can drink it when you go over in future instances? The person who owns the house is not supposed to drink the alcohol left behind?

I'm just trying to understand this, I've only heard of this type of party in passing.

Is there no one else that would be willing to host the party at their house? Never heard of a stock the bar party at a bar but I'm sure it could be done. You usually bring various types of alcohol and bar accessories so the married couple can build up their future bar. Never seen the bottles get opened at the actual party, that doesn't make sense.

I've only heard of it as a housewarming kind of party where the couple might not have much alcohol on hand and their friends want to "stock their bar."

As usual, Gaston has a monumental misunderstanding of something.

The home owner can drink it, but unless they're a lush, there's a good chance it won't all be gone by the time their friend comes back.
