Router losing connection; pretty sure b/c too many networks in the area

for some reason over the past month or so, the wireless networks in this area have increased from about 6 to about 15-16 sometimes. in the same amount of time, my router has become complete shite and loses connection constantly.
is there any way to combat this issue? shittier router with less range (which would frick some access upstairs)?
i have connected every possible device at the 5 GHz range and very few are on the 2.4 GHz range within my house. it worked for a short while but then stopped

Get a wifi analyzer app for your phone and change your router to the least crowded channel. If that doesn't help, it's possible your router is just going to shite and the overcrowding is unrelated. What kind is it and how old?

Assuming your problem is with the 2.4GHz band, change your channel to 1, 6, or 11.
