This is a major ripple and will allow him to work closer with the skills.

I wonder if D.C. will be in the sky, spotting?

From just hearing the guy talk, I trust Aranda more than Cameron. No matter where they are coaching from.

Does it really matter is we continue to call the same three running plays 80% of the time?

If we continue to see a lack of creativity then it doesn't matter. The plays that are called will make a difference not where Cam Cameron is sitting and/or standing when he calls the plays.

This is a GREAT move and one I've been hoping would come for a while now.

1) This gives the OC the ability to call llays in on the field and not trough the head set relay.

2) He gets to interact with his offensive players continuously instead of 1 time at half or over the phone which is needed in college football much more so than NFL. They can provide instant feedback; he can make instant adjustments. Face to face >>>>> headset talks

This is a great move!!!

Has this been reported or are you just assuming?

TD Posters love them some coach on the field rhetoric, like it matters. Is Norm Chow some kind of savant who is capable of calling a game from the box, or, rather, is it just not really significant in the grand scheme of things?

I'd be surprised as that's pretty rare.

Has Cam actually stated he was coaching from sidelines or is this an assumption from TTU game?
It's pretty difficult to play chess at eye level and majority of OCs prefer booth where they can see/attack defensive positioning, tendanciess, subs, etc with constraint plays.
Possible he's found a staff he trusts.

Starting with the bowl game last year, Harris requested this. The play was getting changed too many time between the two.

That's cute, you still think Cam calls the plays. Not saying he doesn't have "input", but the play calling is controlled by Miles. With the exception of a few games in 2013, our play calling over the last 4-5 years has been the exact same pattern and the exact same plays. For those who think we were wide open all the time in 2013, go watch the first half against Ole Miss. We were 2 TE, I-formation and the only passes we threw were one route patterns (lead to 2 first half picks). When we got behind and actually spread the field in the 2nd half we looked good, but it was too little too late.

From what I've seen and heard of Aranda, he will be on the field.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Cameron in the box again with Craig on the sidelines to coach BH6.

Our issue is that we never had a true quarterback coach on the field. Harris and others always had to go to a headset and speak with CC upstairs. I personally love the decision. Hopefully this leads to more fluent play calling and less delay of games/false starts.

I've always been a firm believer that plays are still coming straight from Miles and not Cameron.

This is good for Brandon Harris' mental stability.

Seems like a kid that might let bad plays get to his head more than they should. He needs that coach encouraging him to have a short memory and settle down.

Harris himself requested this, so you know he's excited about it.

The idea that it's so much better if he calls plays from the sideline is goofy. It's because they tried that against TT, but I could have texted the plays in from my house in Tennessee for the game against Texas Tech. They couldn't stop the run and were doomed the minute the matchup was announced.

Unless there's a damned good reason not to, I'd rather have the OC in the box where he has a bird's eye view of the defense and can see where to exploit. No one has shown any evidence that Cam is some dynamic personality with such a calming influence that the offense will gain more than it loses by taking away the bird's eye perspective.

Didn't he coach from the sidelines against Texas Tech? Granted their defense was bad, Brandon Harris looked really good and comfortable. I think this is a GREAT move.
