There were seven LSU commitments at The Opening this past weekend in Beaverton, Oregon: Grant Delpit, Myles Brennan, Jhamon Ausbon, Austin Deculus, Saahdiq Charles, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Tyler Shelvin. While there, the seven current Tigers got to put their recruiting hats on and help build on LSU's 2017 class, which currently ranks among the best in the country. Here's a closer look at the 10 biggest LSU targets from The Opening.

Dylan Moses - LB
Moses helped keep his stock as high as any linebacker in the country, proving his worth as a five-star prospect after a strong showing at The Opening. With the IMG Academy bringing student-athletes back to campus this month, it's unclear whether or not Moses will visit LSU again before the season starts - and they aren't currently on his list of planned official visits. No matter, the Tigers are still considered the frontrunners here.

Will Ignont - LB
The Alabama native has LSU in his final group, and Ignont told reporters at The Opening that he hopes to make a final decision before his senior season begins. The Tigers' main competition is Michigan, Auburn, UCLA, Georgia and Florida State, and it appears one of those six programs are going to land the four-star prospect. Ignont is set to visit LSU on July 23, so keep an eye on the Tigers over the next few weeks. Now is the time to make a big charge.

Marvin Wilson - DT
LSU is still in the mix for the nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle, and there was a time where some recruiting analysts felt the Houston standout was leaning towards the Tigers. But where do things stand now? Wilson said Ed Orgeron is recruiting him harder than any other coach, but the emergence of Alabama, Florida State, USC, Ole Miss and Texas have become real threats to reel in the massive lineman. Landing an official visit - and another visit on top of that - will be key here for LSU.

K'Lavon Chaisson - OLB
LSU checked in behind Oklahoma when Chaisson named his lead group last month, and he stuck by that stance over the weekend at The Opening. But that doesn’t mean the Tigers need to worry quite yet. The Houston standout spent three days on LSU’s campus in June for the first summer camp, and it’s likely he returns again in July. And given LSU is now running a 3-4 defense, and Chaisson is wanting to play outside linebacker in that system in college, things seem to still be moving in the right direction for the Tigers.

Cam Akers - RB
The five-star running back was once committed to Alabama, but he is now uncommitted and looking at programs across the country. LSU might be the sleeper pick here with Ole Miss, Georgia and Ohio State stealing some spotlight. Akers and his family have a good relationship with LSU running backs coach Jabbar Juluke, and with Leonard Fournette on his way out after this season, it’s time the Tigers start building on the depth at running back. One commitment is in from Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and with names like Toneil Carter and Travis Etienne now committed to other SEC schools, the staff would love to pair him with Akers and call it a day with the 2017 class.

Jeremiah Holloman - WR
Can LSU sign four wide receivers in one class? One month ago, the answer would have been no. But now the Tigers are sitting on three verbal commitments and are pressing for more, and Holloman is on the shortlist of names that remain takes in the 2017 class. Keep an eye on him moving forward. Holloman is slated to be back on LSU's campus for camp this month after also attending the team's June camp. Dameyune Craig, LSU's new wide receivers coach, has been key here.

Todd Harris - S
LSU reeled in an elite safety this weekend with a commitment from Grant Delpit, and now all eyes will turn to Harris - the other elite safety that the Tigers appear to be in good shape with. Both are ranked as top five safeties in the 2017 class, and a strong showing from the Plaquemine native this past weekend keeps him in that conversation. Ole Miss is LSU’s biggest competition for the Louisiana standout defensive back.

Devonta Smith - WR
NM, he gone.

Alex Leatherwood - OT
Jeff Grimes has landed three commitments on the offensive line from the 2017 class, but it’s not likely he stops there. Who the other addition(s) become is the biggest question moving forward. LSU has turned the heat up on Leatherwood, even landing him on an unofficial visit this spring. But is the Alabama native out of Pensacola swaying at all? He appears pretty solid with his pledge right now, but the good news is that Grimes still has plenty of time on his side.

VanDarius Cowan - LB
Here’s a name LSU fans might not be hip to, but should start keeping on their radar. Cowan is one of the nation’s best linebacker prospects, and head coach Les Miles has joined in on the staff’s efforts to flip him away from the Tide. Like Leatherwood, Cowan hasn’t indicated that he’s looking to part ways with the Tide, but that doesn’t mean the Tigers will stop trying. LSU needs linebackers in the 2017 class, and Cowan is one of the staff's favorites.

Agree with that, but I feel pretty good about Wilson at this point. I also think that we do have a decent shot at Akers.
