Candy Crush is top 5 grossing right now on Android.

Still? That's nuts. I just feel like A) We don't hear anything about things like Candy Crush and something new hits the market and B) Zynga...nearly belly up. Nintendo's Miitomo...unsuccessful at lasting long. Angry Birds has to release a game very 6 months just to claw to be relevant. Marvel's games are enormously successful for about 2 months, then splat. Maybe Crush as a bad example, but it seems the majority of mobile games are a flash in the pan. C) I don't play them but I see people talk about them and play, then nothing. They don't "seem," to last long, maybe that's wrong. Granted new companies pop up every day with the "new it game."

King prints money from that game and the sequels it inspired. Clash of Clans still rakes in money years after it's release, etc. The top mobile games have proven to have greater sustainability than 12-18 months. Trust me, I look at this stuff on a daily basis

I stand corrected then.

capturing 400 Pidgeys in a Wal-Mart parking lot is not fun nor a great business model

Hunting pokemon in big business parking lots like Wal Mart is the least enjoyable way to play the game. Find somewhere with walking paths and various landmarks/statues/buildings. The best thing about the game to me is that it's a break from normal everyday life, which includes trips to Wal Mart.

In the original video, this as well as mass battles with Legendary Pokemon were promised. We are for all intents and purposes in the Beta version of this game. There's so much more shite they can add to this game that it's nuts.

This.

There is much more to come. We are playing a bare bones version of the game. You can tell upon release the developers had absolutely know idea they would get this response. I expect a lot more to come in the coming months.

Yeah, because you need buttons and a D-Pad for it to work. It's bitterly disappointing without it. Don't believe me, play Sonic on an iPhone. Only Mario properties I think could work on the iPhone are Mario Party, Dr Mario, and Warioware. No way can we have platforming Mario on a touch screen without sodomizing the product.

Well just crush a mans dreams...damn

I guess I'll have to go find my gameboy color

I think this is part of the fun. Actually met a lot of cool people even hot chicks at a lured pokestop.

There is no reason why Animal Crossing, Zelda and Mario wouldn’t be able to replicate this success
This is where I disagree. Pokemon was perfect for the mobile market. Their other names wouldn't transfer nearly as well.
