The country is going to burn tomorrow over this but why didn't he drop the gun when told to? Can't really blame them for that. I'm assuming he did actually have a gun that's not really something the cops can lie about here

but come on - all black neighborhood at 1 am - stay in your lane here. unless there are multiple 9/11 calls or he's literally shooting or holding the gun at somebody's head I think the move here is "proceed on your rounds, officer"

The whole point of patrol, is to patrol. You notice something, you take care of it. They might have saved lives tonight. Their intent was to neutralize the situation. Had the guy complied, it would have been neutralized. He decided not to, and to point the gun at the officer, which is assault, and threatens the safety of the officer. They followed protocol and did what they had to to save their own lives. This all falls on the suspect's burden of responsibility, he is the only one to blame.

yes. for now. There is no way that this clown was worth upping the ante for fellow police officers all over the country. How many cops were shot these past 36 hours - 20?

That's stupid. Why even patrol if you are just going to ignore a potential danger. If the cop tells him to put the gun down and he doesn't that isn't on the cops.

Cop should have pretended to not see the gun IMO. Not worth it. Not right now. You're going to get a half dozen of your fellow police officers around the country shot over a mentally ill guy carrying a gun in his 100% black hood when the people in said hood don't want you to intervene and will gather, live feed it to millions on Facebook, and demonize you? Don't like that decision at all.

Maybe you're right. I'll shut up. I support the police 100% BTW - I am just scared to death about more hard working cops who have young families being assassinated - that shite breaks my heart, man.
Any one of those Dallas PD officers who lost their lives is literally worth 5,000 of these clowns.
