Yeah I was 17 when I moved into the dorms. On the other end, your kid will be over a year older than some in his class. He will have his driver's license before everyone else as well.

If you holdback your child, make sure you enroll them at a small private school where they can play varsity level sports starting in the 8th grade. Once they turn 19, their HS athletics career is over.
