4 holes where you're inside of 100 for your approach (two short par 4's and 2 medium-length par 5's), plus 5 missed greens with chips/pitches and you're there.

It can apply to very good golfers too. If you play par golf as it's intended to be played, you'll have 2 shots inside 100 on every hole, plus a third on some, if not all of the par 5s depending on the course.
This discussion misses the point anyway. You're going to improve your score with your short game, not your long game, unless you're simply unable to hit the ball (28+ handicap bad). I couldn't disagree more with everyone in this thread saying to get one wedge and learn how to hit that one. It's much more difficult to alter your swing for a certain yardage using the same club, than it is to use the same (or very similar) swing with different clubs based on the yardage.
