For those of you going to the LSU vs WISC game and staying in Appleton

America's 20 Drunkest Cities:
1. Appleton, Wisc.
"And the top spot on 2016's list goes to Appleton, Wisconsin, the metropolitan area with the ninth highest concentration of bars in America. 26.8 percent of adults there report drinking in excess. 30.3 percent of the area's driving deaths involve alcohol in some capacity. And 257 deaths out of 100,000 occur prematurely before the age of 75, a figure which may also be indicative of the area's high binge- drinking rates"
... and only 30 miles from Green Bay!

I actually thought alcohol was a factor in like 50% of car deaths?

I realize I have a special way of stating the obvious

Wisky apologist!
If I had to do a complete winter in Wisconsin, there'd be excess drinking involved.

This is it. My brother lived there for years and everyone has a basement bar room. Going outside is not an option for about 2 months a year, so you sit in the basement and pound beer.
Very efficient way to develop a decent drinking problem.

I was there, it wasn't for lack of trying.
The WVU fans were wonderful to every LSU fan I saw that weekend.
No couches died that weekend.

Basement bar rooms are common here. I mean some sort of set up to have a cold one. Not everyone of course, but its common.
I assume that this is not the case in other states and I also assume that Southern areas don't have basements in their houses.
In Wisconsin there are little bars in nearly every little town. Its just in our DNA to be at a bar. In the rural areas most have dice cups where you shake the dice for free drinks if you get lucky.

It's become a running joke. I'm sure it happened at a few bars in some select cities, but every year there seems to be a "We drank em dry!" thread in the TRant.
