I want as much light in the kitchen as I can get. I personally wouldn't want a fan blowing in the kitchen. Sometimes my vent hood will scatter flour and light seasonings as add them to a dish. If I did have a fan, I would imagine the blades would get nasty quick. They would have to be cleaned often.

We just bought an investment property that had a fan in the kitchen.
The stove had no vent and I don't think the former owner's tenant ever cleaned. The ceiling fan was caked with grease
