I am looking for some ideas of things to do with the family this weekend. We live in Lafayette and want to stay within an hour or two. We have a 7 and 4 year old. I don't mind staying in a hotel. Thanks.

Isn't there a "safari" type ranch near Holden, La?? Can't remember the name of it.
eta I think it's the Global Wildlife Center.

In 10 seconds I found the Ville Platte smoked meat festival. Seems like a good way to spend the day. I'm in BR and might see you there.
Also the Shrimp and Jazz Fest in Lake Charles.

Tough ages man I am around the same boat. Outside is off limits unless its a water activity. Not enough inside stuff around to keep you & them occupied.

Come to BR and take your kids to Blue Bayou and let them swim in piss. Weather should be pleasant

It's a great place. But a 2.5 hour drive and it is going to be hotter than my nuts in some tightey whiteys. Go in the spring.

OK I'm from Ville Platte. The Smoked Meat Festival was started by the VVA and my mom and dad were HUGE in the formation of it. There is a TON of good food and good music ... it's typically HOT and I'm not sure though how much they have for kids.
For adults though it's a good time. My parents haven't been involved for a while now and I'm not sure who's in the musical lineup. In the past they've had really good ones.

If you want to head east towards baton rouge, check out the zoo or blue bayou. Both are similar in the sites you will see.

Figured as much. Never had a bad time in Ville Platte.

Stay close and go to the Zoo here ... and then blueberry picking at Bayou Blues in Cade/Broussard. (Our friends own it lol.)

Take them to New Iberia to get haircuts, then they can also learn of their French heritage of being short, weak, and scared. Will give them a better understanding of their old man

Maybe we will just play golf. You should come and bring the wife and kids so I can embarrass you in front of them. They can see their dad get humiliated by a short and weak man.

Out. Nobody in your cart can reach the pedals, and I'm not walking
