Third boat; third one with a speedometer that does not register. I could probably clean the pitot hole on the F115, or look for kinks in the tube; but will it even be accurate once it is "working"? I have GPS on the Humminbird, which is probably more accurate.

I'm considering ditching the speedometer and putting a stereo in the gauge hole.

What is the OB's experience with boat speedometers? Anybody ever replace it with a round stereo?

What do you need a speedometer in a boat for? Really? Only "speed limits" I've ever seen are the "no wake speed" signs.

When it comes to boats the speedometer, fuel gauge, and trailer lights almost never work.

Boat speedos are not accurate and unreliable.

Stay with your GPS / and yes the radio install is quite simple for the round hole.

just cut the tube off and use your GPS
speed over ground is what you want anyway

Mine works. Gotta tap it to get it to register. I can pretty much go whatever speed I need by tapping it. Even while its on the trailer in my yard. Without the motor running. Hell, its probably doing about 10mph right now.

Use your GPS for speed. Boat speedometers are for show.
