I don't now if it still is, but Charlotte was going through incredible growth a few years ago. It was one of the only places where housing prices never fell in the real estate crash around 2008. (Disclaimer: this info came from a friend that lives there. I never double checked him and really don't care to.)

People are still moving to Charlotte. Raleigh too. The Carolinas are booming right now.

Compared to places like Seattle, real estate in Charlotte is tepid at best.
Granted, some areas near downtown are doing well. Others are basically flat over the past 15yrs. But regarding the general sentiment, several cities in the Carolinas (i.e., Charlotte, Raleigh, and Charleston) are doing very well.
