Yet you you complained of the play being too similar to the first, but wanted the villain to be the same as Vader?

Fair enough, I probably was looking for another Vader type. Albeit I understand it's tough to follow up to maybe the most notorious villain ever.

My point was you could not "handle" a nuanced villain. He was a "kid" playing dress up. Trying desperately to be something he's not or wasn't raised to be. Trying to live up to a ghost he's never met.

Which is not what I want in a villain. That's my preference. I'm fine with flaws, I'm fine with hints of morality, that's actually a common trait in many villains.

As another poster said, maybe he's not supposed to be the main villain, but if he is they just undermined the frick out of him in this movie.

Maybe he turns out to be a badass in the future, I don't know, I just did not find his character intriguing as a villain.

Fair enough.

Personally, I really don't want his character to have a redemption arc. He should go out as a villain as he tries and tries to be evil throughout the new trilogy. Perhaps he realizes the error of his ways, but also realizes there is no coming back, so he chooses to stay the course. I think it would be hard for fans to swallow his redemption after killing the beloved Han Solo. Plus, that would be something "new."

You've got the prequels where Anakin is "slowly" seduced to evil. The originals where Luke avoids temptation and Vader is redeemed by/for family. This story could be different by having Kylo consciously choosing to do "wrong" because that's what he wants to do for whatever reason, and avoiding the temptation of the light and his family.
