Looking for a solid way to decide draft order this year, any thoughts?

Keep it simple. Random number generator and let each player pick their position

We do it like the NFL, worse team drafts first...best team drafts last.

Do an auction so every team gets a chance at the top players and can build the way they want

Get about 4 cases of beer, 96 beers. If you are doing a 10 team draft then put numbers 1-10 on the bottom of random beers. no one knows where the number are. Keep drinking until people get the beer with their draft position on it. It may take a while or it may go quick. Either way you and the boys are enjoying beers trying to see where you draft

closest to the final score of the first Saints preseason game, must use decimal places
Commish mails his pick out to everyone say (49.5), and then everyone mails theirs back to him who posts the numbers before the game.
32.6, 42.9, 51.1, etc...in case of tie, goes to time stamp of email
closest is pick 1 and so on.

My league has done some creative ways.
The first was picking a car in the Indianapolis 500 I believe it is. However they cross determines the order.
The other was drawing college football teams out of a hat and wherever your school ranked in the top 25 was your pick. So whoever essentially draws Alabama got 1st overall.

Done: Randomly assign numbers that correspond to horses in the Derby/Preakness (or go to a race if you are in Nola/Sport)
Randomly assign numbers that correspond to top 10 in NASCAR standings. Pick a race that will determine the draft order. Preferably Talledega/Daytona bc of wrecks. Wrecking out puts you automatically in last place.
Considered: Punt, Pass & Kick contest

This sounds dumb, but it's turning out pretty funny. All the guys in our league chose a person from The Bachelorette and the order they are eliminated is the order you pick in.

we use the PGA championship. Everyone drafts a golfer in order of the previous year's standings, draft slots determined by your golfer's finish. Simple but more fun than a random generator.

Are you all in the same place or spread out?
I have buddies living across the US that I play with and we always do a march madness bracket (a little late for you).
But when we were all in college together we played a beer-lympics that was a blast and pretty cool way to determine draft position.
