I think this makes sense for several reason. Maybe this team is better than we think? How well does this team hit lefties? Could be a match up for PM. Also, he doesn't throw hard so even with a weather delay he'd probably be back out there anyway. Early game we'll probably get most of it through before rain comes.

Poche also has a rough outing his first 1-2 innings almost every game it seems so best to let him clear out one of the weaker teams to gain confidence there? Maybe he feels like if a team like Rice jumped on Poche early it could be dangerous.

The starting line up they used in their tournament last week has one left-handed batter. I don't have their split stats.

They have a team batting average of .288.

They don't run a whole lot having stolen only 41 bases out of 64 attempts. Opponents have stolen 81 bases out of 107 attempts against them.

By contrast, LSU has stolen 89 bases on 127 attempts. So we have far more stolen bases than they have attempts.
